In our family owned business, we really pride ourselves on being able to make repairs nearly invisible.
For example, not that long ago we had an antique Tabriz rug made in the 1880's shipped to us from another state that had a large hole created by a planter.
We reset the foundation and rewove the pattern. The repair was virtually invisible to the naked eye - both front and back. The damaged rug had been valued at $3,000. After $2,800 in repairs, it is worth at least $12,000, he says.

Wade Shehady, whose roots are Lebanese and Syrian, works alongside his sisters — Pam Smith, Kim Volzer and Janet Knight. All have mastered the art of reweaving and restoring rugs, hand-tying knots and matching yarns as the original weavers did.

Wade LOVES to restoratively wash & repair rugs so you can "Fall In-Love" with your rugs all over again!
My name is Wade Shehady and I have been cleaning, hand repairing, restoring and appraising oriental rugs for over 40 years.
Rugs have been in my life since as far back as I could remember. Over these past 40 years I’ve cleaned, repaired and restored every type of rug imaginable from modern machine synthetic rugs to a 16th century Isfahan rug hand woven by a master.
To me fine handwoven rugs are more than just decoration for a home – they are beautiful images, stories and history all woven into pieces of fine art you can walk on.
As time moves forward into the 21st century, much of the what has gone into the making of fine area rugs is slowly being lost – especially the knowledge and history that makes older rugs extremely valuable.
Nothing gives me more pleasure than to share everything I know about rugs. I have made it my mission to preserve as much knowledge of the beauty, history and art of fine rugs as I can by passing what I know to others.
That’s why for many years I have been teaching classes to people from all around the world on how to identify where a rug was woven, how to estimate a rug’s age and how to repair them.
Wade teaches the art of rug repair to rug lovers from all over the world.
